Accessibility for the Disabled and Senior Citizens

Tacttile paving to help the disabled

In improving standards in the public transport system and services, we recognise the need to cater to the elderly and physically handicapped commuters. As part of on-going efforts to make public transportation facilities accessible to the less mobile, these are some of the initiatives implemented.

MRT Stations are equipped with the following features
  • Wheelchair friendly fare gates
  • Tactile ground surface indicators
  • Access ramps
  • Passenger lifts
Since June 2006, all new public buses are equipped with the following features
  • Low floors for easier wheelchair boarding
  • Wheelchair room
  • Wheelchair friendly handrails and alighting signal
