Should you experience situations of distress while abroad, you can contact the Singapore mission at your destination to seek consular assistance.

Singapore maintains diplomatic relations with more than a hundred and fifty countries and has established missions worldwide. If however, there is no Singapore mission at your destination, you can call the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Duty Officer in Singapore to ask for assistance.

These are some of the services the Singapore mission may be able to provide you.
  • Information, advice and consular assistance
  • Issuing of an emergency travel document in the event of a lost passport
  • Contacting relative or friends to request emergency funds
  • Notification of next-of-kin in the event of injury or detention
  • Arrangement of visit to a Singaporean citizen imprisoned by that country
  • Provision of a list of officially registered local lawyers and translation services
  • Assistance in arranging the return to Singapore of the remains and personal belongings of a deceased Singaporean
  • Assistance during emergencies such as natural disasters or civil disorder
